Indy 500 ... DON'T BE LEFT BEHIND!!

“… Heroes waiting in the shadows …” That is my favorite line in one of the Okie’s songs as it is the picture of the men of NGL. Do you realize how many men have gone with us and later gone on to further work for our Lord? Don’t be left out! (“For such a time as this.”)

I grew up in the 50’s with “Leave it to Beaver.” One could have to stay after school for chewing gum in class. Then we had the 60’s with the Hippie movement and the bitterness over the Vietnam War. It was a time of rebellion with the status quo. After I got out seminary in the late sixties, I was ready to be a pastor. However, the drug culture was going strong and our seminary training was more in line with the “Leave it to Beaver” era. I was frustrated and turned to the “Jesus Movement” to give me a way to overcome the sterility that was in the church at the time. Actually NGL came about as a result of being a part of the Jesus movement as I saw the Lord do great things and we loved worshiping the Lord. We worshiped, did Jesus marches and believed the Lord was taking us with Him to the ends of the earth for His harvest. 40 countries later here we are in 2010!!!!

You and I are living in the greatest time in history to be a Christian. People feel hopeless with nowhere to turn. The economy is bad, the oil spill has gone on over a month, North Korea just shot down a South Korean war ship killing a lot of people, etc, etc. In such a time as this, God is calling for men to go forth as John the Baptist calling for repentance and turning to the Lord.

Weekly Prayer, 24 May 2010

Hi prayer partners,

Thanks for your prayers for my wife. She is improving slowly and is to start rehab this Friday.

Pray for more laborers for the Indy 500 Outreach this weekend for the Lord to move on men’s hearts to come take part and to call forth the men the Lord would for further service throughout the world for our Lord.

Pray for our administrative team as meet this Thursday and arrange the people in groups for the Indy 500.

Physical prayer needs:
- Bob Mayo’s wife for breast cancer
- Dan O’connor’s wife for breast cancer
- Ivan Lusicic’s wife in hospital
- Jerry Johnson’s mother just died. Pray for the family.

I am in rehab for a knee problem that is worse now than when I started. Appreciate your prayers I am trying to move the last of our “stuff” from the farm this week to our home in Swansea.

1 Week until the Indy 500

Calling all Men of God,

This is the last weekend to enlist men from your church and area for the Indy 500 Outreach. So get on-line at http://www.nogreaterlove.org and sign’em up!!! It always amazes me to watch to see where the Lord is calling forth His Mighty Men for the mission trips. Pastor Mark Jordan says that his music man in his church is "going after it"!!!! I love it!

Some people say they would get on the ball if they felt "Led." They don’t realize that you first need to step into the "water" and then the Lord sees our intention and joins us.

FEEL DOWN AND DRY? Well, Mark Jordan is having the O’kies for a "pregame warm up" for the Indy. That's right! The O’kies will be at New Bethel UMC (131 N. Main St.) in Glen Carbon, Illinois this Friday through Sunday. If you are wanting to get in the flow of God, Mark is inviting all of us to COME ON OVER AND GET SOAKED IN THE LORD.

Also, he had 20 men at his Indy Training Session the other night. Smokin'! He has registrations in hand and will enter them on the website. The Time is near -- Let’s not wait. Bring every man you can!

Weekly Prayer Message, May 12, 2010

Hi prayer team,

Thanks for your prayers for my wife, Jan. I took her to the heart doctor today and he said that she was doing fine. We are thankful for that!! Of course she is still sore and tires easily and has numbness on her tongue.

We are still promoting the Indy 500 ... Please pray for the Lord to call forth men for this mission.

I am going to rehab for a knee problem. However, I feel worse than when I started. However, I am trusting the therapy is going the right direction. I would appreciate your prayers for that.

Gentlemen,

Every year we have the unique opportunity to meet together several times and share the Gospel. Yet, more importantly, we have the privilege of getting outside of our comfort zone with the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to speak, to change, and to minister into our lives so that we can go home better husbands, fathers, and servants of Jesus Christ. The Indianapolis 500 ministry outreach has often been referred to as a “mini-Mardi Gras” event for evangelism, but if you take a deeper look you will soon realize it is so much more than that. The Indy 500 is not only a chance to evangelize on the streets, but it is a time to gather together as men and take a stand for Jesus Christ. It has often been said that if we do not stand for something we will fall for anything. Men – it is time that we stand for the Gospel and for the mission that He has given each of us … to make disciples who will continue to spread the message of the Cross to a world that so desperately needs it!!

Praying to Receive Christ

It has always been the mission and central prayer at the core of NGL to put the Gospel into the hands of faithful men; and I’d like to ask you if you are willing to be that man who says, “Here am I Lord … send me!”? Are you willing to hear from God and be forever changed by how He speaks to you on the streets and how He moves your heart? Are you willing to spend a weekend investing in yourself, those around you, and more importantly God’s Kingdom?
