Hi prayer partners,

I am still having some health issues. I would appreciate your prayers for that. Tests results are pending ...

Places to stay in New Orleans:
- The last place needed for us to stay in New Orleans is a possibility, but I haven’t been able to reach anyone there by phone. Pray for that to open up.
- This is the last week for men to sign up for Mardi Gras at a reduced rate. Pray the Lord will call men forth this week.

One month and counting!

The No Greater Love Mardi Gras outreach for 2011 is just a month away. This is the latest in a series of emails aimed at helping you to prepare well so that this may be our best year to date.

Reminder – the deadline for taking advantage of the discounted registration is February 21.

This week’s emphasis is on Study. For No Greater Love Ministries, Study is one of the four points of the cross and very important to all our efforts.

We always encourage men to develop a habit of daily Bible reading. Reading the chapter of Proverbs corresponding to the day of the month is a simple format and informs one’s life with godly wisdom from day to day and year to year. In addition, reading daily devotional books like My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers is also a powerful source of challenge and inspiration. Many men have also found resources like The One Year Bible an excellent way to read the Bible comprehensively.

NGL emphasizes these applications of Study of God’s Holy Word:

Read – simply reading the Scripture informs your mind and often raises questions.

Study – this is the process of searching for answers and thinking more deeply about the Bible.

Memorize – to memorize the Scripture is to internalize it and to have it most available for your use as a godly man.

Meditate – to meditate is to contemplate and to deeply apply the truth of Scripture to your heart and life.

Here are a few scriptures which you can study prior to our days in New Orleans and along the Gulf coast:

Weekly Prayer Request, Feb 3, 2011

Hi prayer team,

I have been sick with bronchitis the past two weeks. I am still not doing real well, but able to do some work. Thanks for your prayers. I worked so hard pressing on trying to find another two places to stay for Mardi Gras that it drained me. I tried to “lead” instead of being led. So I had to back off.

Now, I have a “good” contact that I am getting ready to call. The problem, humanly, is that I don’t know the pastor and have no one that knows me to fill in the gap. So I am asking all of you to pray for “favor,” if this is the place we are to stay.

We have had some men who have had to cancel because of other commitments. So Roger Lipe, Dave Munson, Dave Maragni and I will be administratively this Friday to work on putting together what we have available. It is always interesting and frustrating to see who we have available and then trust the Lord to give us the wisdom to put the right people in the right places. Please pray for the Laborers the Lord would have for this harvest at Mardi Gras.
