Weekly Prayer Request, May 19, 2011

Hi prayer team,

I am thankful for the effort that Abby, Mark and Dave have put in for this year's Indy 500. I have never been more out of the loop than I am this year in maintaining relationships.

As you know, my wife had open heart surgery. She has done pretty well and we are thankful. However, she has had some bad episodes in the past while. Part of the stress for her is that our daughter and her family are being transferred to South Dakota. That is especially hard for Jan as she is very close to our granddaughter, Josie. Jan hasn't traveled out of the local area since her surgery. She is sure that she can't make the trip out to South Dakota. Jan is not able to take the medicines that could help her get better. So, Jan is my number one concern at this time and being a care giver is not my best suit, but is, never the less, my number one responsibility.

We only have about 55 signed up for the Indy 500. This is the last Sunday to recruit at churches. Mark will have one more promo going out tomorrow. Pray the Lord of the Harvest to send forth laborers to work with us.

Thanks so much,

Love ya's,
Fred

From NGL's Indy 500 Headquarters

Dear NGL Brothers,

It was the Kentucky Derby, 1988. Swinging NGL’s 35 foot long diesel coach into a 15 foot wide alley between two brick buildings. A tall order for any man.

But that year, a Honda Civic parked in the entrance.

A non-issue for NGL guys. Eight burly, bearded, broad-shouldered men exited the bus, surrounded the Civic, and lifted it out of the way. The busload of men roared in victory … and the Civic’s car alarm wailed for the next 20 minutes.

Yes, brothers, we can do anything when we put our hearts and shoulders into it.

It’s time to put our shoulders into it—recruiting and gathering men for Indy. It’s a busy month and a busy church season, but the date of our departure draws near. Time for a big, final push as we enlist men for this life-changing event.

Please see below for this week’s Hot Tips for Recruiting. And, let’s continue to put our shoulders to praying for our event.

It won’t be long now, brothers. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Thank you for your broad shoulders for God’s Kingdom.

In Jesus our Lord,

Mark Jordan
NGL Advisory Board & Administration

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This week’s Hot Tips for Recruiting. Here are things some of our men and churches are doing:

1. Facebook. Make a appeal and invitation to your Facebook friends. Please copy and past NGL’s Indy 500 link (below) on your FB page. Great logo, and a link to the NGL website for more info.

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=113927515354677

2. Email List. Shoot an email to every man in your email address book. A personal invite is meaningful and effective. Be sure to include NGL’s website: nogreaterlove.org.

3. Sunday Saturation. Some men are photocopying stacks of the attached postcards (click here) and placing them in every seat in the sanctuary and Sunday School classes in their church this weekend.

4. Immediate Registration.

- Please register yourself! NGL Administration is busy assigning leadership roles and small groups. We need to know we can count on you.

- Please register your group! Please take the responsibility of seeing that men from your area are registered on the NGL website, nogreaterlove.org.

- Please be a regional leader! Use the materials attached in our two previous emails to “set up shop” and organize men from your community.

Thanks, men. We’re all in this together—shoulder to shoulder.

Weekly Prayer Requests, May 10, 2011

Hi Prayer Partners,

We sure need your prayers for our promotion of the Indy 500 Outreach May 27-29. This has been the toughest year for us in enlisting men for the event. Mardi Gras was the latest it has ever been to my knowledge. Easter was also late and Holy Week takes up all our time in churches. Then, I thought we could get into promotion. However, last Sunday was "Mother's Day" and churches give everything in that direction. That just leaves us with this coming Sunday and one more to get men enlisted at our churches. Yes, we need prayer!!!!

Mark Jordan will be heading up the event at the Indy. He is doing a great job sending out a "Promo" each week to everyone on our mailing list. However, a lot of the addresses are not current as many of us change internet providers and e-mail addresses. Pray that the ones who are receiving our "Promo's" will enlist others for the Indy Outreach. We are encouraging each NGL man to wear his Mardi Gras T-shirt and to pass out the flyers about the mission trip this Sunday at church.

God says that we are to "pray the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers." Join me as we pray for the Lord to call forth men to labor for Him at the Indy 500. God is able to "do more than we "ASK" or "THINK" ... so our prayers are VERY important.

Thanks for your love, prayers and support,

God is good! All the time!

Fred
