Prayer Requests for July 19, 2013

Hello prayer friends,

Carl Johnson and I went to New Orleans to work on getting places to stay for our next Mardi Gras Outreach.  Some places closed down and others opened up.  So we do have options for all of us to stay for our trip in February.  PTL!!

Tonight is our Advisory Board meeting in Du Quoin, IL:

·         We will seek the Lord’s counsel on things like which places should we stay at for Mardi Gras and how can we transport people to the parades as our access to large buses like we have had in the past seems to be drying up.  Churches are getting rid of the large buses and getting smaller buses.  That makes us wrestle with how to transport people like we have in the past.
·         We will be looking at our Men’s Retreat coming up in September.
·         Theme, speakers, food etc

Thanks for your prayers and concern,

Love ya’s

Prayer Requests; June 19, 2013

Hi NGL friends,

I went back to the doctor today.  Possibly the places on my left lung are due to the infection with the upper respiratory problems; they will check that again in three months.  My thyroid has not gotten worse.  I will see the liver doctor July 9th and my sugar level is elevated.  Thanks for your prayers.  I am feeling better.

This Friday night is our Advisory Board Meeting.  We will go through the evaluations of the Indy 500 mission trip.  Then we will look at some ideas for a theme for next year.  We will also consider possible changes for next Mardi Gras.

Love ya’s,

Fred

Prayer needs for week of Nov 14, 2012

Hi prayer friends,

This past month has been tough for me physically as I was not able to shake Bronchitis and it and it became very depressing as many of my “problems” LOOKED at me and I felt like a “Grasshopper!”  Thanks for your prayers.  I just started coming out of it a few days ago.  I let go of some things that were draining me and got back to some things that  energized me.  That has brought a lot of relief.

PRAYER NEEDS:

  • Board Meeting this Friday night as we look at some things leading up to Mardi Gras.
  • For one or two more places to open up to house us at Mardi Gras.
  • For Camp Leaders to be chosen and get on board with our emphasis for the New Year.

Thanks for your love and prayers.

Prayer Requests for Week of March 28, 2012

Hi prayer friends,

Thanks for your prayers for our board meeting last Friday night as we had some important decisions to make. The meeting was one of our best meetings with good discussion and input on some issues.

- Jeff Pursley got to go home from the hospital after being in the hospital in Hattiesburg, MS for 26 days. Ron Kuhnert brought Jeff and Jeannie home in his motor home. Jeff is still not able to walk on his infected leg. Let’s believe the Lord to restore that leg to full use.

- We had reports from board members who had just returned from Honduras and Africa and the Lord blessed both mission trips.

- We reviewed the camp sites from the Mardi Gras trip. One church will not be available for next year, but another came in to take its place. PTL!!

- We had a good discussion on how to conduct our Indy 500 mission trip. We plan to have two camps. One will be for those who can come early and work the streets on Friday night and the other will be for those who have to come later because of work.

- Pray for us to find the second camp location as I work on that this week.

- Pray for the Lord to call forth men for the Indy 500 Outreach in May.

I want to thank all of you who pray, support and participate in No Greater Love.

Love ya’s lots!

In His service,
Fred

Prayer Requests for March 23, 2012

Hi prayer friends,

Tonight is our March Advisory Board Meeting at the Methodist Church in Du Quoin, Illinois. This will be an exciting meeting. We will be going through the evaluation forms of each man from our Mardi Gras Mission trip last month. We need prayer to see what God blessed and what we need to change for God to bless in the future. Pray that we will see who the Lord is moving along and who needs to move to a different position for the Lord to move them along as well. I have been through the evaluations and now the Board will do the same tonight.

Tonight we will hear from Jerry Johnson who has just returned from a mission trip to Liberia, Africa and from Marvin Steinke who has just returned from Honduras. I know we will all benefit from the “afterglow” of their experiences. That is always exciting.

We will be working on how to go about our Indianapolis 500 mission trip in May. Pray for us to have wisdom as to what the Lord would have us do concerning this trip.

Thanks for your prayers,

Love ya’s,
Fred

Weekly Prayer Request; Mar 16, 2012

Hi prayer friends,

Troy Benitone and the Medical team are doing great in Liberia. I got a note last night from Troy last night. The medical team has seen over 1500 in the clinic. The surgeons have operated on almost 200 people. Last night was the first night of the Crusade and tonight will be the second night. Please remember the team today and for the Lord to move mightily in the Crusade tonight. Pray for Troy as he is having some
difficulty with his voice for the preaching tonight.

Sylvia Reinmiller's team and Marvin and Karen Steinke's team have been doing clinics in Honduras this week.

Please remember our Board meeting for this coming Friday night as we go through the Mardi Gras evaluations. Pray the Lord will show us through the evaluations the changes that need to be made for the future and to recognize what the Lord did in the lives of the men and that we might be able to encourage how the Lord is working in each man.

God is good!

Love ya's,

Mardi Gras Follow-Up Prayer Needs

Hello prayer friends,

I want to thank all of you for the prayers, support and participation for our 37th Mardi Gras Mission. Every year gets better. Hopefully we learn from our past mistakes by reading and digesting all of the evaluations each year. We will be going through the evaluations from this Mardi Gras to learn how to do a better job next year. I got through them personally, the NGL Board will go through them at our next Board meeting and them Abby will go through them and tabulate the highlights, the weaknesses and give a numerical rating for each group leader and assistant group leader to evaluate how they rated.

One of the new ministries started this year was the “Intercessor” group from back home. Bernie Kneale headed up this project and the needs of each camp were sent daily to Bernie and he got the word out to the ones on his list. We saw such value in this especially with the NEED for prayer for Jeff Pursley as he came down with a virus that couldn’t be determined for several days. Jeff is still in the hospital in Hattiesburg, MS, but he is improving. His kidneys have started back functioning. They are back up to 15%. He is still Jaundiced, but it is some better. Please keep Jeff in your prayers for a FULL recovery. The devil sure tried to take his life. Special thanks to Ivan Lusicic and Ron Turnbull for taking Jeff to the hospital and staying with him. Thanks also to Ron Kuhnert who will stay in Hattiesburg with Jeff and Jeannie until Jeff is able to return home.

The word was that big signs would not be allowed on Bourbon Street. Roger Lipe went to the police station in New Orleans and identified our group as he does every year. We had great favor again with the police and our marches were allowed to march the whole length of Bourbon Street. That was a real answer to prayer.

PRAYER NEEDS THIS WEEK:

1. Pray especially for Abby at the office as she gets things in order and sends out the “follow up” letters to those who made decisions and for those who made decisions to get into local churches and continue their pilgrimage with the Lord.

2. Pray for all the men who went with us to incorporate the things the Lord did in their lives as they are back home personally, with family, church and community. We are already having requests to use our clown suits and Jesus stickers for local parades like the upcoming St Patrick’s Day Parade in St. Louis.

3. Pray for the men who pledged to help support the ministry through this year. Luke 6:38

I came back from this Mardi Gras is better shape physically than I have in several years. Yet, I got to do more than normal at the event. Shane and Troy were great to help keep me doing what needed to be done and drop back to rest when it was necessary. One great highlight to me was the last meeting under the I-10/610 interstate. Mark Jordan did his “induction” service with ALL the first timers. I had been in camps where he had done it and saw how God used it, but this time we were able to do it at one time with the total group. The first timers came forward and we prayed for them to be as Mark calls it “inducted into the “fraternal order of Godly men.” It is an awesome ceremony. Then to have over 200 men end the trip all wearing red hats and shirts marching down Bourbon Street looking like the blood of Jesus flowing right through the center of the crowds. I believe it is pleasing to God. I came home feeling the “pleasure of God” for the best trip yet. I can hardly wait to see what more the Lord will do at the Indy 500 as we march on together for our Lord.

Thanks for being such a vital part of the ministry,

Love ya’s

Fred

NGL Prayer Update

Hi NGL Partners,

I know and have experienced in NGL that the Gates of Hell don’t prevail against the church. That is why I am so thankful to have all of you to work with for NGL. Our country, Europe, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan and so many other places are in such a downward spiral. It would be so devastating to us if it were not that we can look up and be on the winning team. The old song was almost written for today. “On Christ the solid rock I stand. ALL OTHER GROUND IS SINKING SAND.” For such a time as this, we have had our training. So let’s rise and share the “Good News!”

Thanks for the prayers:

- For our Clown suit and wig project. The funds and people to make the suits are really coming along. Pray for those who made commitments to come through, especially the makers of the suits. So far the wigs we have found are rather skimpy and small. We shall keep looking.

- Pray for Jeff Bealmear in Kenya.

- Pray for Bob Gay in Honduras and Guatemala.

- Betty Braswell is adjusting well in Springfield

- My cousin, Joan, is hanging in there and looking to the Lord

We just had our NGL Board meeting last Friday night at my childhood home church in Sunfield, IL where we hold our “kick-off” for the coming year each August. It was a great meeting. It is always such an honor to have these special men go back with me to the place of my salvation. I never want to get away from my foundation in the Lord. I was fourteen and afraid I was going to hell. I wear a cross continually to remind me to live near the Old Rugged Cross.

Now is the time to get the "ball rolling" for the 2012 Campaign. Matthew 9:3 says, "Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest."

NGL ANNUAL MEN’S RETREAT SEPTEMBER 23-24

First I look to God for the kind of CONTENT we need to move us forward for the coming year.

I was at a church men’s retreat and the messages given by Troy Benitone were life changing for many of the men. It was so good that even though I had to leave for a prior engagement, I just didn’t want to leave. I know those messages and small groups will be revealing and helpful for the first timers as well as for all of us seasoned veterans just like they were at that retreat.

Roger Lipe is the most prolific man I know today and the anointing of God is on him in a special way for men in sport. He suggested for us to get some insight for our lives in the Book of Proverbs which is the Book I have, for years, encouraged all of us to use daily as part of our devotions. His insights will help all of us to “kick it up a notch.”

The NEXT STEP is to get the promotion process started and trust Psalm 133 for the anointing to go out to the area leaders and speak to their hearts in such a way that it will move on to all those they influence for all of us to come together and get refreshed, refilled and set on fire for our Lord.

Thanks so much for all the prayers and support. God is able to do ABOVE ALL WE ASK OR THINK. So join with me in “asking” and “thinking!”

Love ya’s,

Fred

Weekly Prayer Request - Aug 18, 2011

Hi NGL prayer partners,

Thanks for your prayers.

I. Prayer Concerns:

1. Betty Braswell, is doing better physically after being taken by ambulance from Carbondale to Springfield. She has moved from Carbondale to Springfield and adjusting very well. I was talking with her by phone yesterday and she interrupted me and said that she had to go because her friends were there to go to lunch with her. Ya gotta love it!

2. Ron Kuhnert, our chief cook and coordinator's wife, who is also a favorite cousin of mine, is on hospice, but her attitude is good. Her sister, Peg, and her husband have come from Seattle to be a help and encouragement. Roger Lipe is being the biggest help with is daily Scriptures of wisdom and encouragement.

3. Our secretary/office manager, Abby, is having health problems and needs your prayers. This is the time of year when everything kicks into gear toward the Men's Retreat and Mardi Gras.

II. Needs

1. Pray for Bill and Sue McDonald as they are in the States but will be going back to Viet Nam soon.

2. Pray for Jeff Bealmear on a mission trip to Africa

3. Pray for Bob Gay on a mission trip to Honduras and Guatemala

4. Pray for our Board meeting this Friday night.

A. Roger Lipe will lead us through the "Small Group" questions we will be using at Mardi Gras. This gives us a chance to "fine tune" the questions.

B. We will be meeting at the Sunfield UMC where I was saved as a boy. We meet there each year in August to take us all the way back to where it all began for me. I still go there often to pray and enjoy the Lord. They gave me a key to the church. So I stop in and pray each week when I go down to work at the office. I always feel God's presence there is such a warm, gentle and assuring way. I first turn on the light behind the stained glass window of the three crosses and a sun in the background. I start out on the back row and gradually move forward worshiping until I end up at the altar, the third "clover leaf" from the left representing where I gave my life to the Lord at the age of 14. I feel His presence just writing about it to you.

C. We will look at the t-shirt design that Jeff Bealmear has designed for the coming year to get feedback on it.

D. Pray for these 20 plus men on the Board. Their faithfulness never ceases to amaze and inspire me. They are the greatest! Some of them have been with me for 40 years. Shucks, I went "eek" when I just got through counting up the years. There is nothing more precious than lasting friendships. Tom McDaniel and Rudy Rice have been with me the longest. Carl Johnson was the first man I worked with back in San Antonio back in 1974 when the ministry was getting ready to start.

Thanks so much for your love, prayers and support. It is such a blessing and honor to have you people as my friends and to see how the Lord through your prayers turns the devil's onslaughts on their ears. I have never see it fail. I owe all of you so much.

Love ya's,
Fred

Weekly Prayer Update, June 21, 2011

Hi prayer friends,

We had a great NGL Board meeting last Friday night at Christ UMC in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Bernie Kneale and Marvin Steinke hosted us. Bernie had the meal catered. It was great. I find that meetings and food go hand in hand. If the food is good, the meeting will be also. We had 21 men with us.

It was good to have Jimmy Murphy with us again as he will be heading back home to Wyoming. Craig LeQuatte will be leaving for Rapid City. South Dakota with the Air Force for the last two years of his military career. Roger Lipe was in Italy. Marvin Steinke is heading for Honduras. Bob Gay is also on a trip.

Dan Vawser led us in praise and worship. Then we reviewed the evaluations from the Indy 500 Outreach. The evaluations proved out that it was the best outreach we have had in years. The prayer walk on Friday night set up the entire weekend. We were all in one camp and that gave us the best leadership possible. I had more fun and feeling of accomplishment than I have had in years. Mark Jordan ran a great camp with all the leaders helping out. The food was served by Ron Kuhnert and Jeff Pursley. The biggest problem was that we didn't have "headsets" for the march.

I am spending time now with my brother in law, Mervin Hampleman, and my cousin, Joan Kuhnert in the hospital in Carbondale, Illinois. Please remember them in your prayers. Pray also for Sarge and Sue McDonald as they are back on furlough from Vietnaam.

Thanks for your friendship, prayers and support.

Love ya's,
Fred
