Weekly Prayer Requests; Feb 26, 2013

Hi prayer friends,

I participated this past weekend in the Navigating Change Conference at Christ UMC in Fairview Heights, Illinois.  It was a little too soon after Mardi Gras, but it went well.

I have started this week in going through the evaluations from Mardi Gras.  That is always exciting learning how each man is doing.  All the men need to do the basics in a small group on their first trip.  It is always interesting reading about how they like or disliked their leader.

It is interesting also to find out how they rated their own performance doing the tracting, clowning, street preaching and one on one witnessing.  I am always interested in reading the group leader’s assessment of how each man did in his group and then charting a course for each man for his benefit in the future.

From the evaluations filled out by every man, we learn a lot about what things seemed to have worked well and what things need to be changed.  As we read the “highlights” of each man’s trip, we get a better feel for what the Lord was blessing and what people’s interests are.  With the five camps, we have different styles of music in each one.  Some people like one style while other people like another style.  As Tom McDaniel would say “Anointed music means they are playing the kind of music I like.”  I would appreciate your prayers as I  go through the evaluations and then Abby, my secretary, will go through them and then the Advisory Board will go through them.  We will tabulate the results and use the findings for our next event at the Indy 500 Outreach and for Mardi Gras next year.

FaceBook has turned out to be a winner for our Mardi Gras trip.  I love seeing the pictures so many of the guys are posting.  You can see a lot of the pictures by going to our page at “No Greater Love Ministries".  Thanks to all who have been posting pictures.

Please remember
•         Marvin and Karen Steinke’s ministry “Feed My Sheep” are in Honduras
•         Troy Benitone and his ministry “Hands of Hope” will be in Liberia, Africa for  one month
•         Sarge and Sue McDonald are in the States raising funds to help them get back to Vietnam.

Thanks for your love, prayers and support.

Love ya’s,

Fred

Weekly Prayer Requests; July 23, 2012

Hi prayer friends,

We had a good Advisory Board Meeting last Friday night at Christian Life Center Church in Herrin, Illinois.  We are working on our Annual Men’s Retreat in September.  We spent a lot of time evaluating ourselves and each other from material in the book “De-Railed” by Tim Irwin.  This will be one of the books we will be using for our ministry this coming year and sharing more on it at our Men’s Retreat.  The other book we will be using is “Beautiful Outlaw” by John Etheredge.  We will be discussing this book at our next Board meeting.  It has been very enlightening about the many facets of Jesus’ personality.  I loved it!

Prayers needed:
Pastor Charlie Houston from Gateway Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX needs our prayers concerning his lack of proper heart function.
Pray for my Office Manager, Abby Emling, as she is leading a youth group witnessing at the “Ark” in Panama City Beach, FL.
Pray for our continuing preparation for our Men’s Retreat.
I will be preaching this Sunday at Trinity UMC in West Frankfort, Illinois.

Thanks for your love, concern and prayers.

In His service,
Fred

Weekly Prayer Request, March 15, 2011

Hi prayer partners,

Thanks for your prayers for our Mardi Gras trip. Please pray for the men who went and their families as they have returned home.

Now is the time to do the follow-up on decisions that were made. Pray for Abby as she follows up on these. Pray for the Lord to work in the lives of those who made decisions for the Lord. Pray the follow-up material will be a help and the people will get in a good church and live changed lives for the Lord.

The only time we talk about support for the ministry is at Mardi Gras. We depend on these pledges to keep the ministry going during the year. Pray the Lord will bless those who have committed to support the ministry. If what happens in the Mardi Gras experience is meaningful to the men, then we ask for their help in supporting the ministry. I was so encouraged and blessed to see how many of the men with us have gone on mission trips to other countries. One third of our men were "first timers. So these rookies got to be around men who have moved on out in the Great Commission "Adventure" for the Lord. One man told me that after being with the ministry that he has been on missions to China.

Pray for us as we go through the individual evaluations. I am going through them now and later our Advisory Board will go through them at our next Board meeting. This gives us a chance to see what the Lord did through the men and what needs to change for next year.

Our evaluation forms have each man report if he did the basic things like passing tracts, did the clown skit, gave his testimony, shared the Four Spiritual Laws and carried the cross. Each man is evaluated to see where he is making progress and encourage him to move along in his pilgrimage as the Lord leads.

I would appreciate your prayers as I go in tomorrow to see a surgeon about my thyroid.

Love ya's
